How to Use the Slide Library

The Obesity Online Slide Library is organized into educational talks developed by Editorial Board members. Each talk contains slides, talking points, references that are linked to PubMed, and key words that allow you to find additional slides on a similar topic. Each talk can be viewed and/or downloaded in its entirety, or the slide library can be searched to create custom presentations.

To view slides

You may view the slides in the library in two ways:

  • Thumbnail View - shows 10 thumbnail images at a time along with the slide title, talk title, and key words. You can view the details of any slide in this view by clicking directly on the slide.
  • Enlarged View - shows the complete detail of the selected slide, talking points, key words, and references linked to PubMed. This view displays what will be downloaded into PowerPoint. From this view you can navigate through your selected slides using the arrows directly below the talk title on the left of your browser, or conduct a key word search.

To build your slide presentation

  • Select a talk title from the list of slide talks, select a key word, or type in a search term under "Search Slides" and click on the "Search " button. The results of your search will appear in your browser.
  • Select the specific slides you would like to include in your presentation by clicking on the box marked "Add This Slide To My Tray" that appears below the slide image.
  • If you are interested in searching some more and adding other slides to your tray, you may do so. Slides will remain in your tray until you remove them or download your tray.
  • You may select all the slides in a particular talk by clicking on "Add All Slides in Talk To Tray" in the upper left corner of your browser window.
  • The number of slides in your slide tray appears on the left side of your browser window.
  • At any time during this process, you may remove slides from your tray by clicking on "Remove Slide from Slide Tray" underneath the slide images.
  • Click on "View Slide Tray" on the upper left side of your browser window to view your final selections. In this view you can still remove slides from your tray.
  • When your slide tray selection is final, select "Download Slide Tray" to download the slides to your computer. A PowerPoint presentation will be assembled and compressed in .zip format. Follow the onscreen directions to extract the compressed file and open it in PowerPoint on your computer.

To search for slides in the slide library

  • Type in a word or phrase and then click on the "Search Slides" button, or select one of the key words adjacent to the slide images. A search is conducted of talk titles, slide content and titles, key words, and talking points. All slides related to the word or phrase you entered will appear in your browser.
  • To broaden your search, use multiple words or phrases separated by commas. The search will return all slides containing those words or phrases, in any order. You can always conduct several searches of individual terms or phrases and add slides to your tray during each search. See "To build your slide presentation" for more information on adding slides to your tray from multiple talks or searches.
  • To limit your search, use "and" and "not" between search words or phrases.
  • When you don't know the exact spelling of a word or want to match several words that begin the same, use an asterisk after the first few letters in the word or word family you want to search for.
