About CME Activities Available through Obesity Online
Through the NAASO Obesity Treatment Education System (NOTES), NAASO, The Obesity Society brings professional education to your desktop at home or your office through online CME and cyber seminars. The links in this section will connect you to all CME activities that NAASO has developed that offer CME credit for their successful completion. Each activity includes CME information, faculty biographies, references, activity presentations, posttest, evaluation and registration.

Bariatric Surgery for the Treatment of Obesity

In this talk, Dr. Klein and Dr. Sugerman present an overview of surgical therapies for the management of severe obesity. They discuss the indications, contraindications, postoperative complications, and expected long-term results from each of the bariatric surgical procedures currently being performed in the US.

Weight Bias and its Social, Economic, and Health Impact

In this slide talk, Kelly Brownell, PhD, and Rebecca M. Puhl, PhD, present the growing body of scientific evidence which demonstrates that in the United States weight bias exists towards people of all ages - including very young children, as well as adults who are obese, and being a target of weight bias leads to multiple negative outcomes, including consequences for emotional, social, and physical health.

The objective of this program is to educate participants about diet and counseling suggestions, physical guidelines and reimbursement information. This program is made possible with an unrestricted educational grant from Abbott Laboratories. Assessment and Management of Overweight and Obesity in Adults
Developed jointly with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the objective of the two modules in this program is to educate participants about the importance of weight management, health risks, treatment, weight loss motivations, and appropriate strategies. Participants will receive a maximum of 2.0 category 1 CME credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
